|Beachfront living is the dream for many people. Imagine waking up in the morning to the sounds of the soothing waves of the Gulf of Mexico, enjoying breakfast outside overlooking the beach and water, walking out your back door for easy access to the sands of one of Sarasota’s gorgeous beaches and relaxing out back with your loved ones to catch the beauty of the sunsets. This is a typical for those fortunate enough to live on the beach. |
If land and homes were free most people would choose to live on the beach. However, beachfront is the most expensive segment of the real estate market. You will find some of the most amazing homes and condos located on the beach as it is a very sought after lifestyle. If you are in the market for a waterfront home visit LuxurySarasotaRealEstate.com or visit Sarasota beach homes to view a variety of fabulous options.
Longboat Key Beach HomesLongboat Key is roughly 11 miles long, north of Lido Key and not too far from Sarasota. Most of the island is made up of condominiums on the beach but there are a handful of places to find a single family home. The south end of the island is more expensive as it is closer to all of the amenities of Sarasota, Florida.
Lighthouse Point is on the south end of the island and behind the gates of the Longboat Key Club. There are also 8 magnificent beachfront mansions on Longboat Club Road. One of them sold in April 2011 for $12,500,000.
As you move north there are a handful of beach homes near the Avenue of the Flowers. They sit in between the beach and Gulf of Mexico Drive. Moving north the rest of the island is made up of mostly condos, public beach accesses and hotels. Once you hit the 6000 block there are several large estates on the beach. Gulfside Road also contains a variety of homes that back up to the beach. At any given time there will only be a few beach front homes for sale on Longboat Key.
Siesta Key Beach HomesSiesta Key is located just south of Lido Key and off the coast of Sarasota. It is very convenient to all of the amenities that Sarasota has to offer. Siesta Key beach is one of the prettiest beaches in Florida. In fact, many people consider it to be one of the best beaches in the world and it usually ranks as such.
On the north end of the island you will find the neighborhoods of Gulfmead Estates, Bayou Louis, Solymar and the homes Higel Avenue. All of these waterfront homes overlook Sarasota bay, Lido Key and perhaps Big Pass. The beaches are small and private and do not link up Siesta Key beach. So you won’t be walking very far on these beaches.
There are some homes on the famous Siesta Key and Crescent beaches. However, there are not many of them. The land is so valuable that condos make up most of the beach. Expect to pay at least $2,000,000 to get here.
Just south of Crescent beach you will find Point of Rocks which is a beach with limestone rock formations just offshore. It is a great spot for those who love snorkeling hoping to catch a glimpse of the local wildlife.
The Sanderling Club is an exclusive gated community with many of the homes on the beach. Most of them are on large lots with plenty of space between the neighbors. Here you will find grandiose beachfront estates. The community itself is very lush and overgrown giving it that “Old Florida” relaxed feel.
Moving south and you eventually run into Blind Pass Road and Horizon View Drive. Both of these streets have a handful of Sarasota beach homes. Some of them are magnificent newly constructed homes while others are older and more relaxed.
Casey Key Beach Homes
The gorgeous island of Casey is located just south of Siesta Key. However, there is no road from one island to the other. This is where you will find your largest concentration of Sarasota beach homes. There are very few condos on the island as most of the island is made up of single family homes. If you are very picky and absolutely have to be on the beach then you will want to explore the homes on Casey Key.It is not uncommon to see people driving down Casey Key to gander at some of the most amazing waterfront homes on the west coast of Florida. Homes on the north end of the island are in higher demand because of the easier access to Sarasota. The south end of Casey Key is an extra 10-15 minute drive. The great thing about Casey Key is that it is a narrow island. Many of the homes run from gulf to bay giving residence not only the beach lifestyle but also the boating lifestyle. You can have gorgeous water views in the front and the back.
Living on the beach is a dream for most. To put it simply you need to have a few bucks to own a Sarasota beach home as starting prices tend to be close to $2,000,000. If you are in the market for such a home give Marc Rasmussen a call at 941.812.6272.
