Manual lymph drainage (MLD)
- In order to reroute stagnant lymphatic fluid, stimulation of lymph nodes and rhythmic contractions of lymphatics is intended to enhance their activity.
- MLD consists of four strokes: stationary circles, scoop technique, pump technique, and rotary technique.
- When combined with other elements of CDT (Complete Decongestive Therapy), it has optimal results as a preventative treatment and a postoperative rehabilitation treatment.
- MLD increases blood flow in both deep and superficial veins. MLD can also be helpful in cases such as post-traumatic and post-surgical edema, and in the treatment of palliative conditions, as well as lymphedema.
