DMRC’s Digital India initiative has a new official website and mobile app. 
 
DMRC’s new-look official website and a cutting-edge mobile application were unveiled yesterday at Metro Bhawan for the benefit of passengers by Managing Director, Dr. Mangu Singh, in the presence of other top officials. Many additional features are included in the new website and mobile application, including interactive route maps, extensive station search options, real-time first and last train time calculator, next and nearest station alert on the app, and more. These cutting-edge facilities were created after DMRC employees combed through the websites and mobile applications of all major transportation networks across the world for months. 
 
According to a comparison of the official websites of the world’s biggest metro systems, Delhi Metro’s website includes more facilities for passenger convenience than any other similar website in operation in other cities. A dedicated team of officials also evaluated the feedback offered by commuters from time to time as part of the study process and applied the necessary modifications. The website will be designed and maintained by a specialised team of IT professionals. 
 
A lot of extra work has gone into making sure the website and mobile apps are safe and virus-resistant. Intermittent audits are carried out on a regular basis to assure the same. The safe NIC server is hosting the DMRC website, www.delhimetrorail.com. The DMRC mobile app is also accessible on the Google Playstore for all mobile operating systems, including Android and Apple. The website was built to be a bilingual platform, with all functions available in both Hindi and English. 
 
Unlike the previous website, which integrated corporate and passenger information, the new website will be primarily focused on passengers, with a link on the homepage leading to a distinct corporate part. 
 
DMRC has connected its website and mobile application for the first time, ensuring speedier updates and information flow on both platforms. The website and mobile application are totally dynamic, providing real-time information on train movements, applicable fares, timings, and so on, which is a significant improvement over the previous website, which was essentially static. For the convenience of travellers, useful information such as Metro station phone numbers and the nearest police stations has been included. 
 
The primary elements of the new website and mobile application were described by Anuj Dayal, Executive Director, CC of DMRC. 
 
-Trip planner using Interactive Map – Passengers may plan their travel quickly and effectively using the Interactive Map function on the website and mobile app. Passengers using the Interactive Map can see the entire itinerary of their journey, as well as information about stops and interchanges along the way. 
 
*Passengers are also given the time of the next available train, as well as the total journey duration to their destination, the fare, and the number of stations on the chosen route. The Journey Planner also shows passengers the platforms and travel directions from their origin station, through interchange stations, and to their destination. 
 
Know Your Station — Passengers can access detailed information on each station in the DMRC network on the DMRC website. Station location on a map, station details, gate details, lift/ escalator availability with position, essential local places, and station facilities are among the different details displayed. 
 
-Advanced Station Facilities Search– For the convenience of travellers, the DMRC website provides an Advanced Facility Search function on the homepage from which passengers can conduct a quick search by facility type, Metro line, or keyword. 
 
The Tour Guide is a one-of-a-kind function that caters to tourists and newcomers to the city. A crucial selection of prominent monuments, historical sites, and transportation hubs such as railway stations, airports, and ISBTs that a visitor to the city must see are highlighted in the Tour Guide. The ‘Plan your Journey’ tool is also available here for passengers’ convenience, allowing them to see the route to the nearest Metro station of any landmark from anywhere on the Delhi Metro network. Walking time and public transportation time estimates are also supplied for the last mile connectivity from the nearest Metro station to each landmark.
